From 2007 –
2010, Leo von Scheben was Commissioner of the State of Alaska’s Department of
Transportation and Public Facilities, the department responsible for planning,
construction, management, maintenance, and operation of the State’s highway,
marine, and aviation transportation systems and all state-owned building
facilities; measurement standards and commercial vehicle enforcement. He managed
a staff of 3,500 statewide with a $500 million average annual operating budget
and delivered a 1.2 billion average annual capital & operating program of
state-funded & federally funded projects. Mr. von Scheben was also the
co-founder and leader of USKH, Inc., a nationally ranked architectural /
engineering / surveying firm with 130 employees and seven offices in Alaska
and Washington.
